About Meghan
Hi, I'm Meghan, a Registered Dietitian with 34 years of experience, based in Union, Maine. My path began with a B.S. in Food and Nutrition and a Master of Science in Nutrition and Food Science, and I carry credentials including an MBA, CDCES, and LD alongside my RDN. My career spans clinical and hospital care, research and academia, and 30 years at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, where I worked first in cardiac rehabilitation and later developed and led an outpatient diabetes self-management education program. I also spent time with a nonprofit studying plant-based nutrition for diabetes and weight loss. When I'm not at work, I love reading, writing, gardening, cooking for family, skiing or snowshoeing in winter, hiking in summer, and binge-watching Netflix.
Approach to care
Care philosophy: I believe in care that is evidence-based, empathetic, and practical. My approach starts with understanding you, your goals, and your life, and it stays rooted in current science while staying human and warm. We'll work together with clear, direct steps you can act on, holding space for curiosity and progress rather than perfection. I practice a weight-neutral, holistic view that emphasizes sustainable habits and health at every size. Education is central, so you leave each session with knowledge you can apply to everyday choices and your long-term wellbeing.
Your first session with Meghan
What to expect in your first appointment: Our first session is all about you. We'll talk about your health goals, routines, challenges, and what matters most to you. There's no need to have it all figured out before we meet; this is a collaborative exploration, not an exam. I'll share what I've learned from science and experience, and together we'll map out a plan you can start right away. You'll leave with a clear sense of next steps, plus a supportive framework you can rely on as you begin your journey.
