About Meklit
Hello! My name is Mekky, and I am a registered dietitian passionate about supporting individuals in building healthier relationships with food and achieving their wellness goals. I completed both my undergraduate and graduate education at San Jose State University. During my training, I gained valuable clinical experience at Stanford Health Care, helping patients in the ICU and psychiatric units understand and navigate their menus. I later completed 10 months of intensive clinical hours at the Cleveland Clinic, where I developed skills in pre-liver transplant care, tube feeding clinics, nutrition support, gut rehabilitation, and intestinal transplant. I am committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based nutrition care tailored to your unique needs and health journey.
Approach to care
My approach to nutrition is rooted in empathy, collaboration, and science. I believe in meeting you where you are—honoring your individual background, lifestyle, and goals. My approach to care is providing evidence-based care while maintaining a holistic perspective. This session is your session, and you will always be the priority. I am here to listen and to provide nutritional advice and strategies that fit your life. Rather than offering one-size-fits-all recommendations, I focus on empowering you with practical tools and knowledge to make informed, sustainable choices. Whether you’re navigating complex medical conditions, working toward specific health goals, or simply striving to feel your best, I am here to walk alongside you with non-judgmental guidance and realistic strategies. I am someone who wants to build with you and watch you succeed. Together, we’ll create a foundation of balanced nutrition and confidence—without stress or guilt.
Your first session with Meklit
Your first nutrition session is all about you. It’s an opportunity for us to get to know each other, discuss your health history, eating habits, and any challenges you’re facing. In our first session, we’ll primarily focus on collecting background information and your nutrition history. I’d like to understand what you’ve tried in the past, what has worked well, and what hasn’t. I also want to get to know you and ensure we mesh well as a team. Sessions typically last about 55 minutes. You don’t need to prepare anything special, but you’re welcome to bring lab work, a list of medications, or a food diary if you have them. Most importantly, come as you are—this is a space where your voice is valued and your health journey is respected. Ongoing support, accountability, and adjustments will build on what we start together.
