About Melanie
With 35 years as a Registered Dietitian and a B.S. in Food and Nutrition from Louisiana Tech University, I bring experience from clinical hospital care and community health programs into every conversation. As a CDCES, I help people navigate nutrition and wellness in ways that fit real life, not quick fixes. Outside of work I love hiking, camping, cooking, and reading, and those simple pleasures shape how I help clients build sustainable habits. I'm passionate about helping new clients find a practical, warm path forward.
Approach to care
Food and health are always personal, and I rely on evidence-based research and practical protocols to guide recommendations. I keep our conversations warm and judgment-free, while also being direct and action-oriented so we know exactly what to try next. We focus on sustainable habits, using a weight-neutral, behavior-focused lens rather than diet culture. Holistic factors like sleep, stress, activity, and emotions matter, and I prioritize teaching skills so you'll feel confident making lasting changes together.
Your first session with Melanie
Plan for a relaxed, thorough visit where we'll review your medical history and any lab work or biometrics you bring. We'll take time to dive into your relationship with food, discuss what has worked or not, and identify what feels doable in your life right now. This is a low-pressure, judgment-free conversation, so you don't need to have all the answers. By the end we'll establish a couple of short-term, realistic goals and clear next steps that we'll tackle together.
