About Melanie
Throughout my career, I've worked with people from all different backgrounds including immigrants and refugees, pregnant and breastfeeding women, families with children, individuals managing heart disease, and people navigating weight concerns. I've spent time working with busy individuals and those on tight budgets, helping them create simple, affordable approaches to eating well. One thing I love about my work is learning about foods from around the world and helping people maintain their cultural food traditions while living in the US. I believe that healthy eating should never mean abandoning the foods that connect you to your heritage, family, and culture. Instead, we can work together to honor those traditional foods and find ways to prepare and enjoy them in ways that support your health goals. Food is so much more than fuel, it's about connection, comfort, and celebration too! I'm passionate about helping you preserve that while achieving your wellness goals.
Approach to care
I believe sustainable change happens through small, meaningful steps. My approach is built around meeting you exactly where you are and focusing on one manageable change at a time. We'll work at a pace that feels right for you, allowing each new habit to become second nature before moving on to the next. You won't find me asking you to count every calorie, weigh your food, or track macros down to the gram. While numbers have their place, I've found that for most people, this level of detail creates more stress than support. Instead, we'll focus on building an intuitive, sustainable relationship with food that honors both your health goals and your quality of life. Whether you're juggling a demanding schedule, working with a limited budget, or simply feeling overwhelmed, I'm here to help you find an approach that feels achievable for your lifestyle. Together, we'll identify practical strategies that work for your unique circumstances, preferences, and goals.
Your first session with Melanie
In our first session I'll take time to understand your lifestyle, current eating patterns, health concerns, goals, and your relationship with food. This session is all about gathering the information I need to create a plan that's tailored to your life. We'll discuss what's working well, what challenges you're facing, and what you've tried before. I want to understand your daily routine, your food preferences, any cultural or family considerations, and what barriers you've encountered on your nutrition journey. Most importantly, we'll talk about what success looks like to you. By the end of our first session, we'll begin developing an individualized plan that we'll refine together throughout our work. This is a collaborative process - you're the expert on your life, and I'm here to provide the guidance and support to help you reach your goals in a way that feels sustainable and empowering.
