About Melissa
Melissa is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist based in North Texas. Melissa has been passionate about health and nutrition since elementary school, and is thrilled to have a career where she can channel this passion into helping others. She has over 15 years of experience working with clients of all ages, in clinical, community, and school settings. Melissa specializes in digestive conditions, including celiac disease, food allergies/intolerances, IBS, and inflammatory bowel disease. In addition, she has completed FODMAP training with Monash University. Melissa can help you identify food triggers, navigate special diets, and learn how to manage your symptoms to feel your best.
Approach to care
Melissa believes in an individualized approach to nutrition care. Her philosophy is that attainability, sustainability, and consistency are key in making positive health changes. If a nutrition plan is lacking in any of these areas, it should be recalibrated to better meet the individual's needs, rather than expecting the individual to "make it work". She enjoys helping clients focus on the foods that they *can* eat, rather than giving lists of foods to avoid.
Your first session with Melissa
In the first session, I will ask questions to learn more about your medical and nutrition/diet history. I'll ask you about your current diet to get an idea of what you like to eat, foods you avoid, any special dietary needs, etc. We'll talk about your short-term and long-term health goals, and I'll ask you about the type(s) of support you need from me in order to reach your goals. At the end of our session, we'll talk through some initial steps you can take to work toward your goals. My hope is that at the end of the first session, you will feel motivated and empowered, and confident that you can achieve the goals you've set.
