About Melissa
Hello! My name is Melissa Garcia-Brown. I was born and raised in Greeley, CO. Prior to my journey in becoming a dietitian, I had the honor and privilege of serving on active duty in the Air Force for 8 years; I am currently in the Air Force Reserves. My passion is in nutrition education and cooking with people of various age groups. I aspire to be a dietitian that provides preventative nutrition counseling to prevent or delay the impacts of disease-related illnesses and improve overall health outcomes. My dream job would be teaching young adults how to become confident in the kitchen to learn early on how to use food as medicine.
Approach to care
I've learned through working in the clinical setting how vital it is to be very compassionate and caring for those I'm helping through nutrition. For some patients, it's the first time they're speaking with a dietitian and they may have a preconceived idea how sessions will go. I want to approach each patient interaction as if they were a close family/friend needing my help.
Your first session with Melissa
I'm eager to listen and learn stories from patients who are willing and ready to make impactful changes in their health. Our first session will be all about getting to know each other and how I can be of service to YOU and to meet you where you are in your health journey.
