About Melissa
As a Registered Dietitian for the past 27 years, I am always learning, growing, and staying abreast with the nutritional guidance and research to provide exceptional dietetic services. My experiences as a clinical dietitian, adjunct professor, nursing home kitchen supervisor, and restaurant manager and owner have provided me with a wide range of knowledge in the following areas: cardiac health, diabetes, eating disorders, food safety and sensitivities, functional & holistic nutrition, gut health, men's and women's health, sports nutrition, wellness, and weight management. Recently, I obtained my holistic nutritional consultant certificate because I have a passion to help others improve their health by good nutrition practices. I have my own personal experiences with various health issues such as candidiasis, hypothyroidism, and perimenopause/menopause so I empathize with people who face challenges along the way in order to guide them to overcome them.
Approach to care
My dietetic approach is to learn about you and your health, daily schedule and lifestyle, and your goals. Then we can work together to develop a tailored and individualized plan that puts you on the path to success by the plan being incorporated in your journey in life. I encourage clients to follow my baby step changes plan and to believe and trust the process with time and patience to reap the best results from their plans.
Your first session with Melissa
During our first session, it will be about you! We will have a conversation about your daily living to learn about your daily food intake and meals, activity, and schedule. I will also review any medical and nutrition history with you and see if I need additional information regarding your medical history. In addition, for your nutritional care and plan, I will ask what are your goals and expectations. At the end of our first session, you will be empowered with knowledge and recommendations to help you jumpstart your path for overall health and well-being.
