About Melissa

I'm a Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Outpatient Educator based in Rhode Island, specializing in intuitive eating, diabetes management, and a weight-neutral approach to care. My practice is client-centered—I focus on your unique goals, values, and lived experience rather than rigid meal plans or weight-focused strategies. I have a background in community nutrition and have spent several years providing nutrition education in diverse settings. This experience has shaped my inclusive, practical approach to care and deepened my belief in meeting people where they are. I especially enjoy working with adults who are ready to make sustainable behavior changes. Whether you're navigating a new diabetes diagnosis or looking to heal your relationship with food, I offer a supportive, non-judgmental space to explore what health and well-being look like for you.

Approach to care

My approach to care is client-centered, weight-neutral, and grounded in intuitive eating principles. I use motivational interviewing to help clients explore their own goals and build confidence in making sustainable changes. I strive to create a supportive, non-judgmental space where individuals feel empowered to make choices that align with their health needs, values, and lifestyle. Rather than focusing on weight, I emphasize long-term behavior change and a positive relationship with food and body.

Your first session with Melissa

Our first session is really a chance for us to get to know each other. We’ll talk about what brings you to nutrition counseling, your relationship with food, and what you’re hoping to work on. I’ll ask some questions about your health and daily routine, but there’s no pressure to have it all figured out. It’s a relaxed, judgment-free conversation where we can start to explore what’s important to you and how I can best support you moving forward.
