About Michaela
Hi! My name is Michaela and I am a non-diet, weight-neutral dietitian. I am new to the dietetics world, but I have worked in psychology and public health research for the past 5 years. I am very passionate about public health nutrition and hope to create spaces for people to love food and what it can do for their bodies.
Approach to care
I am a non-diet dietitian who approaches counseling from a weight-neutral perspective and a culturally-humble foundation. While I do honor bodily autonomy and one's interest in weight, I also acknowledge that health and wellness are about far more than what is on the scale. I hope to help people heal their relationship with food and their bodies and hone in on strategies to help them reach their wellness goals while honoring their present, their culture and background, and their future journey.
Your first session with Michaela
In our first session, we will talk about your past and current wellness journey, along with a discussion of what goals we can set for a healthy future moving forward. I want to learn about my clients' interests, including favorite hobbies, foods, and how they navigate their overall day to day. Food is a large part of who we are, so I am very interested in learning more about the cultures that play a role in food choices and behaviors.
