About Michelle

My passion for nutrition began when my dad got sick from cancer while I was in college. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics. Before completing the required dietetic internship, I worked in clinical trials for oncology (cancer) research at Emory University working towards the approval of new cancer treatments. I went on to acquire my dietitian credential through Emory and work as an oncology dietitian. From there, I switched into being the dietitian for a well-known fast food restaurant (yes, that's right-- a fast food dietitian!). I've had the privilege of working in a variety of settings including inpatient, outpatient and foodservice. My broad multidisciplinary experience has contributed to ability to connect to many clients nutritional needs and interests.

Approach to care

My approach to care is one that is client or patient-centered. I value getting to know each client--their needs, interests, and personality in relation to food. Because food is emotional, I take into account each client’s unique circumstances, readiness, and capacity for change—recognizing that progress looks different for everyone. I strive to create a welcoming, nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, supported, and empowered to make choices that align with your values and goals.

Your first session with Michelle

Your first session with me will always be easygoing as we both get to know each other.. Next, I ask questions regarding health and nutrition history. Nutrition education is provided as an introduction to future sessions. We will then wrap up the session by setting a small attainable goal to focus on between the initial session and the follow-up session. Finally, I ask the client to identify additional nutrition goals they would like to accomplish at future sessions. This allows for clients to really be the driving force behind their nutrition care.
