About Mirena
Mirena Murillo, MS, RD, specializes in intuitive eating for anyone wanting to learn more about nutrition and a whole body connection. This includes using body awareness, science of the body, and nutrition principles. She takes into consideration life style factors and life experiences to determine a plan suited to nourish the body while at the same time establishing gentle mindset practices. Her nutrition philosophy is based in whole food eating and functional nutrition.
Approach to care
The approach used is a compassionate approach in combination with an empowerment approach. Her wish for you is to learn enough about yourself and your body to be able to not need her one day. She knows that often times there are life experiences that influence our eating habits and nutrition. Which is why is it important to use and develop understanding of one’s life first in building a sustainable nutrition plan. Once enough connections have been made, the next steps are to build changes that we are intrinsically motivated to change based on our personal value system.
Your first session with Mirena
In your first session think of it as getting to know one another. This will be the time for you to share your medical history as well as your health/nutrition journey up until this point. You will not be made to share anything you do not feel necessary to share for purposes of creating a nutrition plan. We can decide during your visit if you’d like to focus more on nutrition principles, mindset shifts, or observation for your first goal. We can decide if you’d like to see the entire plan at once or choose one change to focus on. We can also decide which methods are helpful to you. This may or may not include a variety of logging methods to analyze food. We will build the plan together. Essentially it is a plan built on the balance of expertise and your own personal life.
