About Mon-San
Before becoming a dietitian, I was a North Carolina Public School teacher for 6 years. When I taught middle school Family and Consumer Sciences, I did a unit on nutrition which sparked an interest. I had also experienced the healing power of food firsthand which eventually led me to change careers. I have been a dietitian for close to 5 years. I started out as a clinical dietitian at two rural hospitals for Atrium Health and am grateful for the foundation it gave me. I then worked for a Program for All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly center where I focused on geriatric nutrition. I enjoy providing 1-on-1 nutrition care so here I am, ready to begin this new chapter of my career with Nourish.
Approach to care
I strive to provide compassionate, culturally competent, holistic, patient-centered nutrition care. I see you as a person, not a number. I am not the "food police" but we will work together to figure out what you are willing to limit and/or avoid in order to reach your desired health outcomes. I am not here to tell you what to do because in all honesty, we tend to not do the things we are told. Your doctor may tell you to do certain things but are they what you actually want to do? I want to empower you to take ownership of your health and be fully present for this journey. I will be your biggest advocate and supporter every step of the way. Simply put, I am here to take care of you.
Your first session with Mon-San
I will be learning all about YOU which includes lifestyle, medical history, eating habits/behaviors, cultural background as it relates to food preferences, things that worked or did not work, etc. The more transparent and forthcoming you can be with me, the better I can I meet your needs. Based on the information provided, we will create a blueprint of what is going to work best for you. Let's change your life, one plate at a time!
