About Nicole
I am a registered dietitian with my own private practice focusing on eating disorders like BED, anorexia nervosa, bulimia, orthorexia, ARFID. I also specialize in intuitive eating and gut issues. I have worked with eating disorders for over 8 years since working at an eating disorder and have experience with living with IBS. My goal is to help those suffering with an ED to live their best quality of life and show them that there is life outside it. I have experience in working with adolescents, adults, older adults and families. I have a passion for helping people recover a healthy relationship with food and bringing joy back to their life, along with providing nutrition education. I believe in fighting weight stigma and providing a safe space for people in all types of bodies to exist. I love using science and chemistry and physiology to help my clients understand their diagnosis for educational purposes.
Approach to care
I focus on a HAES (Health At Every Size), weight-neutral approach rather than numbers. I care more about the person as a whole and their overall well-being. As a registered dietitian, it’s so vital to remember our sessions are client-centered and not the other way around. In working with diverse cultures, educating on what we can “add” to the client’s diet is important, rather than shaming for what their family eats and what they grew up eating. Body liberation is also an important part of my practice because it focuses on bringing a person’s self-worth to light that isn’t focused on body size or appearance. I would also rather help a client with overcoming disordered eating patterns and teaching them about an all foods fit approach. I also am a trauma-informed provider using DBT and CBT-based skills in my practice. I use an All Foods Fit philosophy along with Intuitive Eating principles in my practice, while focusing on healthy behaviors and not weight or size of bodies.
Your first session with Nicole
You can expect us to get to know each other in the initial assessment and me asking thorough questions to get as much information about you and your condition(s) as possible. This will help me put together your personalized care plan and goals. Once you share what you’d like to focus on during our time together, we can collaborate on some SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Time-oriented) goals every session. This is a way for me to measure your progress and keep you accountable. I will be providing lots of nutrition education that includes: organic chemistry, pathophysiology, biology, metabolism and psychoeducation. Every session we will check in and see your progress and I will reassess to see what we should focus on that day since I don’t believe in setting entirely new goals every session until you feel you have mastered the ones we had set. Remember consistency is key!
