About Pamela
Hi, I'm Pam, a Virginia-based clinical dietitian with 30 years of experience in the Nutrition field. I grew up in a farming community in Southern California and attended The University of California Berkeley for my two degrees. I worked many years in the acute care setting (hospitals) and saw too many patients with chronic diseases that might have been prevented or the disease progression slowed by appropriate nutrition support and education. I am now dedicated to help more in the ambulatory (out-patient) setting. My expertise extends to Integrative & Functional Medical Nutrition Therapy principles, and include not only diet enhancement but also nutritional supplementation, herbals and essential oils.
Approach to care
I believe in an holistic approach to health & wellness, and work closely with you to find not only the root cause of a specific issue, but to bring in all aspects of health to address the problem, body, mind & spirit. Then, using my three pillars of counseling: Nourish, Enhance & Sustain, we will begin building plans and processes to help you navigate your environment to obtain Optimal Health and Wellness and the potential increase of your Health-span and Longevity using Metabolic Nutrition principles. My specialties include Brain Health with treatment of Neurodegenerative diseases (Alzheimer's, Parkinson's & ALS).
Your first session with Pamela
You can expect a thorough nutritional assessment of your diet, lifestyle & health risks and previous experiences to determine a starting point. From that we will focus on what you want to achieve in both the short & long term. During the first session we will also set up goals, timelines and meal planning for you. I need you to help direct this initial contact for best outcomes.
