About Rachael

Hi! I'm Rachael :) I have 10+ years of dietitian experience covering a variety of settings including hospital, outpatient health care, wellness/fitness industry, and as a consultant. I founded my private practice Personal Health Management LLC in 2022, centering its mission on helping clients take charge of their health and lives one meal and workout at a time. I strive for direct yet compassionate communication and feel that it is vital to build a safe space for clients to share openly about challenges and also successes in their lives. Clients can expect a personalized plan and approach as well as goals that will be checked in on at every session. I take a solutions focused approach to help my clients get to where they want to be and to grow through setbacks and inevitable life challenges all while learning to be resilient, flexible in their approach to eating, learning their boundaries and what matters to them, and creating sustainable change in their lives.

Approach to care

As a dietitian, exercise specialist, health educator, and advocate who helps clients take charge of their health one meal and workout at a time, my approach blends evidence-based nutrition science education, fitness support, and counseling and coaching techniques to create personalized, realistic plans that support lasting change. I focus on progress, not perfection, helping clients build confidence, resilience, and habits that fit their lives so that their eating, exercise, and health habits are in line with who they want to be.

Your first session with Rachael

In your first session you can expect and plan on many things, the first being having engaging and easy going conversation. I also strive to create an environment where my client's feel safe, seen, heard, and cared about. I will provide individualized education, strategies, guidelines, and recommendations tailored to you throughout the appointment and we will wrap up with goal setting, action mapping for sessions and decisions about different metrics to measure progress towards goals with. You probably leave with more hope, motivation, empowerment, and energy than you came in with ^_^

Education

I have a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan. I have dual master's degrees from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor in Public Health Nutrition and Exercise Physiology. I have extensive continuing education in counseling and coaching techniques, trauma informed approaches, mental health coaching, motivational interviewing, as well as 10+ years in the field doing personal fitness training, small group fitness training and coaching, and teaching and developing group exercise classes.

Hobbies

I'm married to husband Erik and have 2 daughters and 4 cats (all are rescues!). I'm active in youth and children's ministry at my church (bring on the babies and toddlers!) and I enjoy baking, cooking, teaching fitness classes, attending Zumba classes, singing, dancing, reading fantasy books, watching anime or other animation where the plot has a good mix of fantasy/romance/action/mystery, playing arcade games, going on walks, listening to educational and motivational podcasts (Mel Robbins and similar), and taking trips to Disney World or Great Wolf Lodge. I am also passionate about youth mental health and am an advocate for autism acceptance and for supporting other parents/families of children with neurodevelopmental disabilities like autism, ADHD, and more.
