About Rachael
Rachael is a dietitian with over 7 years of experience. She has enjoyed a successful and rewarding career, primarily having worked in the clinical setting of a hospital for just over 5 years. During her experience within the hospital setting, Rachael had the opportunity to diversify her skills in areas of chronic disease and acute illness. After realizing there is so much more to nutrition interventions than education, and a very clinical interaction, Rachael began to focus on behavior change and psychological factors influencing nutrition outcomes. Most recently, Rachael obtained her Intuitive Eating Counselor certification and uses the IE approach with her clients to create lasting change. After her experiences working with women in the fertility space, pre & postnatal space, along with those currently breastfeeding, she has gained a new passion for this area of women's health and is currently working on specialties within this area.
Approach to care
Rachael's goal as a provider is to create a judgement-free space where you can communicate the needs that matter most. She enjoys the conversations that make up each session, and she welcomes your authentic self as you share your story with her. She is confident that you are the expert when it comes to your body. She enjoys working with you to understand what motivates you to achieve any goal, and she uses an add-in approach to help you set small and realistic targets as you work together towards the longer-term objective(s). She believes that sometimes, a "bare minimum" action plan is required to continue creating a system of consistency without decreasing belief in one's self-efficacy.
Your first session with Rachael
In an initial visit, Rachael dedicates time to better understand where youâve been, where you are, and where you want to be. This begins with a thorough nutrition assessment which includes learning about your medical history, nutrition and lifestyle habits, food preferences, current symptoms of concern, and health and nutrition goals. You will be able to ask questions and define what a successful counseling experience looks like. At the end of the first visit, youâll leave with at least one actionable step to help move you closer to your health goals.
