About Ruth

Hello! and Welcome! I am Ruth Fisher, a Dietitian native to Minnesota. I come to Nourish with many years as an RD but am also trained as a functional nutrition coach and my passion is to help people with their gut issues. I myself, have had gut issues for most of my life, that started following a heavy dose of antibiotics for pneumonia during a long hospital stay. I kept them at bay mostly until about age 40 when they really flared and turned into a SIBO diagnosis. I truly believe I can say that I can relate to your symptoms and struggles and I have learned some approaches we can take to get life more manageable and control symptoms to have more "good" days than bad.

Approach to care

My approach to care is to listen to your goals and issues, assess, track, and observe prior to making recommendations. I believe that protocols do not work and that everyone is unique. We typically find we need to first start with finding your "non-negotiables", then work on bringing any deficiencies to sufficiency prior to ordering expensive testing and doing specific supplements. Sometimes the basics of balancing sleep, nutrition/hydration, elimination and blood sugar balance make a big difference.

Your first session with Ruth

On your first session with me we will start with learning your main issues/goals and seeing if we are a good fit to work together. If the we decide to move forward I will ask you to fill out one of many trackers we have available to assess what issues you are having. We can talk through some options and then set a follow-up appointment to evaluate where you have come and what progress you have made. As you know most gut issues are not resolved in one session, we will likely use Nourish resources and tools to assist you. I will also make sure you are comfortable using the Nourish app so you can assess all resources available to you.
