About Samantha

Hello there! My name is Samantha and I am so excited to get to know you. I was born and raised in the suburbs of Atlanta, Georgia and graduated from the University of Georgia. I now reside in Southwest Florida near Sarasota. I have a background in clinical, inpatient nutrition where I worked mostly with cardiac patients, and my current specialties and other areas of expertise include functional gut disorders, Inflammatory Bowel Disease (Crohn's and Ulcerative Colitis), IBS, and general digestive/gut health. I have experience in and enjoy working with individuals wanting to create a healthier relationship with food and their bodies- generally in the later stages of Eating Disorder recovery or with general disordered eating patterns/history of chronic dieting. I also have my certificate of training in Celiac Disease and Gluten-related Disorders and am skilled in helping people navigate the gluten free diet/lifestyle.

Approach to care

I typically follow a weight-neutral, Health at Every Size (HAES) approach, focusing on creating trust in one's body vs following a specific diet plan. I have experience in guiding clients through "Intuitive Eating-" working on creating a healthy relationship with food and body through these principles. I believe that guilt and shame have no place in the kitchen and that eating should be an enjoyable part of life. I meet individuals where they are and create personalized plans that fit their lifestyle, budget, preferences, and culture. This is a safe space; I welcome all and am LGBTQ+ affirming. My passion is to help individuals find peace with food and their body so they can then shift their focus to what brings them joy in life.

Your first session with Samantha

We will spend the first session getting to know each other- I want to make you feel at ease so please, do not be nervous at all! We will review your medical and nutritional history, any recent lab work, lifestyle factors, and typical eating patterns as well as go over your short and long term goals for nutrition counseling.

Location

📍 Bradenton, Florida

Education

BS in Dietetics from the University of Georgia

Hobbies

My hobbies include designing and sewing my own clothes, painting, and anything crafty! I live on Florida's Gulf Coast and I love going to the beach and getting outdoors to explore. I also love snuggling up with my cat, Lila, and watching a good mystery/crime show. Fun Fact: I was a Cast Member at Walt Disney World briefly before becoming a dietitian! I am in the parks on both coasts as often as I can and LOVE all things Disney.
