About Sara
Sara enjoys food as a creative outlet, bringing in ideas from all cultures to keep food interesting and affordable. She is an outdoors person and loves to travel, garden, do food preservation projects and is a big music nerd. Sara also lives in a "plus-sized" female body, has a "spicy" brain, and can relate to many of your struggles with weight management. Nutrition areas of focus: overall nutrition generalist. Food selection and preparation skills/budget-friendly | plant-based eating (dedicated or only curious) | body image neutrality | emotional eating/stress eating | navigation of restaurant eating and alcohol intake. *Individuals seeking to lose weight are welcome; Sara is not solely focused on weight loss but generally positive lifestyle changes result in some weight loss as a consequence of cleaning up eating habits. Sara makes no guarantees on how fast you will progress if this applies to you, and priority is health-promoting over appearance.
Approach to care
Gentle accountability for goals you set, honest assessment of the challenges, and homework for the next session based on what was discussed. Authenticity in our shared human vulnerabilities. Priority is answering questions and concerns, providing education, and strategies to apply new knowledge to your real life experiences. Collaboration on the best way to reach your nutrition goals and layering of education at each visit to challenge you - not overwhelm you. Topics discussed in-visit will require action outside of visits to move your goals forward.
Your first session with Sara
Initial session is getting to know each other and identifying your unique challenges. Future visits scheduled after the initial involve topic-driven education or a concern of your choice - you are the driver of how the visit time is spent. Ongoing collaboration, good habit development, and increasing confidence with nutrition knowledge.
