About Sarah
I am a Registered Dietitian and CDR-certified. I have obtained my Bachelor of Science in Dietetics and Nutrition at FIU and my Master of Science at Keiser University in the same field, along with a certificate in Speech Pathology. I decided to join the Nutrition field in 2014, and for over a decade, Iβve been turning the science of nourishment into life-changing strategies for people from all walks of life. I fell in love with this field, not just for the composition of a balanced meal but for the stories behind every plate. My mission is to provide individuals with the right tools to thrive in their journey to wellness using evidence-based science and real-world practicality. Over the last few years, I have worked at the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, providing nutrition counseling for veterans and tailoring menus to medical conditions. I continue to work in the community to educate them on medical nutrition therapy and culturally appropriate meals.
Approach to care
My holistic approach to care focuses on lifestyle changes that fit patients' nutritional needs. Nutrition is essential for achieving homeostasis as it fuels the body's continued function. Through continuous education and discussion, I believe it is possible to improve individuals' nutrition experiences, knowledge, and, consequently, health. I aim to revive the connection with foods that nourish while simultaneously distancing from unwholesome foods. I also aim to encourage through motivational interviews, follow-ups, further probing, and exploration. I aspire to collaborate with clients to achieve satisfactory goals and empower individuals to become more bold and confident about their meal choices. The goal is to educate about the disease and how to modify meals based on the medical diagnosis. I prioritise obtainable changes that are tailored to my patients' situations.
Your first session with Sarah
During the first session, we will introduce ourselves and establish rapport. I will gather data that I will use during counseling to better tailor the session to your needs. The session is designed to last one hour. We will conduct an assessment, review a 24-hour food recall and food preferences, revise the nutrition diagnosis, agree on the intervention, and decide on the evaluation interval.
