About Shavonne

I have been a dietitian for four years. I became a dietitian because I believe food has the power to both heal and prevent disease, not solely help manage it. While I am incredibly thankful for modern medicine and firmly believe it is necessary for optimal health, I believe nutrition is just as important. Prior to my time counseling for Nourish, I worked as a clinical dietitian at an inpatient rehab hospital. I left to stay at home with my kids for a few years and that's still my main gig! I'm talkative but a straight-shooter, I am goal-oriented and driven by results. I love to celebrate every win and am always cheering you on! I can't wait to get started helping you on your journey.

Approach to care

I operate based on these principles: Eat a variety of the highest quality, most nutrient-dense foods you can afford, from all food groups; limit processed foods and added sugars and eat intuitively. Eating patterns arise from our culture, experiences, abilities, budget, time constraints, mental capacity, etc. I take this into account when coming up with a plan of care for you; we will overcome barriers by making realistic, sustainable changes; I believe food is meant to be enjoyed without fear or restriction AND optimized for your flourishing. Regular movement is vital to our well-being: focus on what works for you, avoid comparison, and move in a way that you enjoy.

Your first session with Shavonne

In your first session, we will hit the ground running. I will listen to your concerns and we will walk through a nutrition assessment together so I can get a better understanding of your needs and goals. We will create a game plan with measurable goals based on your main concerns and I will make sure that you feel confident about how to move forward before our next meeting.
