About Shelly
Hello! My name is Shelly Ragusa, MS, RD, LDN. I attended Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, earning both a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics a Master's Degree in Human Nutrition and Foods. I completed LSU's dietetic internship program, spending 6 months at University and Charity Hospitals in New Orleans along with specialized rotations across the southern Louisiana parishes.
Approach to care
We will use an individualized goal-oriented approach to nutrition, accounting for client resources, food preferences, lifestyle, and other personal responsibilities. Using behavioral modification and a mindful approach, I aim to assist clients in identifying and overcoming barriers to a healthy lifestyle. Using S.M.A.R.T. goals to set clients up for success, my approach is suitable for clients who wish to improve their overall wellbeing through proper nutrition, replacing confusing and often mixed dietary messages with effective, clear and concise information. We will focus on nutrient dense foods, Glycemic Index, DASH Diet and Mediterranean eating styles, avoiding fads and quick-fixes that often lead to a frustrating cycle of dieting. I strive to set my clients up for success by teaching the fundamentals of proper and affordable nutrition. Let's work together to make positive changes that will lead you to a lifetime of wellness!
