About Somayyah
Food and community have always been central to my work. With an MA in Nutrition and Food Science and two years as a WIC nutritionist, I bring community nutrition and community health experience to every visit. I enjoy hiking, walking, and event decorating, and I love baking healthy recipes to test ideas I might share with patients. I aim to help you build sustainable habits that fit your life, not force one-size-fits-all rules.
Approach to care
Science and compassion guide the work we do together. I use evidence-based strategies to create clear, practical steps we'll try and refine, so changes stick long term. I practice from a weight-neutral, Health At Every Size perspective, focusing on behaviors and wellbeing rather than numbers. We'll explore emotional, social, and physical factors, and I’ll teach you the reasoning behind recommendations so you can make informed choices that last.
Your first session with Somayyah
During the initial visit I'll review your medical history and any lab work or biometrics you bring, and we'll take a deep dive into your relationship with food. I approach the conversation with curiosity and no judgment, so you can be honest about wins and struggles. Together we'll identify a couple of practical first steps and set small, measurable goals to revisit. You don't need to have everything figured out before we meet, just bring your questions and priorities.
