About Sonia

I’m Sonia Patel, a registered dietitian with 12 years of experience specializing in chronic conditions and wellness. I’m passionate about the powerful role nutrition plays in overall health, and I believe that finding a sustainable, healthy lifestyle is key to managing both acute and chronic conditions. Having struggled with my weight growing up, I tried countless diets early on. By the time I reached college, I realized that restrictive diets weren’t the solution. Instead, I focused on finding ways to integrate all foods into a balanced, healthy lifestyle—a philosophy I carry into my work with clients today. With extensive experience in a variety of cultural diets (Indian, Asian, Mediterranean, and Hispanic) I take a realistic approach to nutrition that respects and incorporates diverse dietary traditions. I live in sunny San Diego with my husband and twin daughters, and when I’m not working, I love experimenting with new recipes and enjoying beach walks and long hikes with friends.
