About Sophia
Hi there! I'm so glad you found my Nourish page. I'm Sophia, a dietitian trained to treat a variety of health conditions such as cardiovascular diseases, cancer, chronic gastrointestinal issues (such as SIBO/SIFO, GERD, IBS, IBD), autoimmune diseases (Hypothyroidism, type 2 diabetes, rheumatoid arthiritis) and weight management. I also work across the lifespan, from childhood, pre-pregnancy, pregnancy, post-partum, to older adulthood. I currently work at WIC, working closely with pediatric, maternal, and, infant health. During graduate school, I took two specialty courses on Nutrition and Cancer and the Human Gut Microbiome, and feel very comfortable guiding clients on these topics. Additionally, throughout my education, I worked doing as a research assistant alongside Meals on Wheels, and feel confident in my ability to treat patients across the from birth to older life.
Approach to care
I take a client-centered approach to care, which means you are at the heart of everything we do together. I aim to empower you with knowledge and skills, build on your existing strengths, and get creative to find solutions that will meet you where you are in life. I understand that nutrition doesn't exist in a vacuum—your schedule, budget, food preferences, cultural background, and personal circumstances all matter, and our work together will honor these realities. My research background and master's level training make me feel confident to investigate health information or concerns you may have come across on the internet, evaluate claims critically, and understand what the science actually says. Whether you're curious about a new supplement, concerned about a health headline, or wondering if a popular eating pattern is right for you, I'm equipped to dig into the evidence and provide you with accurate, personalized guidance that supports your unique health goals.
Your first session with Sophia
In our first session, I would like for us to get to know eachother and get the ball rolling on your health and nutrition goals! Afterwards, I will gather a nutrition assessment - this includes a bit of a “Q & A” over your life circumstances, what is important to you, your medical history, medications, supplements, food preferences, health goals, and health barriers (and wins!) you may have experienced. Zooming out to your current life circumstances, I would also love to learn about your daily and weekly flow of life to better understand your schedule. This means learning about who does the cooking, grocery shopping, household size, and what challenges are currently in your life leaving you wanting more. With more information, I can get a sense of how to best problem solve, and brainstorm solutions, with you! By the end of the session, we’ll work together to brain storm a few actionable goals that feel sustainable and realistic. I look forward to meeting with you soon
