About Susan

Hi, my name is Susan Pittman I am a Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist. I live near Joplin, MO and have 3 dogs and 3 cats. I enjoy working, motorcycle riding, nature and spending time with my adult children and grandchild. I have worked as a Dietitian for over 30 years and have specialized in Diabetes Care for 20 years and over the past 10 years have added eating disorder to my list of clients that I love seeing.

Approach to care

My approach to helping clients with diet is learning about what you are doing now. What is working and what is not working. We can build on the good things and then strategize on what needs work. I believe with diabetes it is essential to understand how the body regulates blood sugar and once we understand that we can optimize our diet to help the body with this regulation. I feel my role is to educate and support the changes that are needed to optimize health.

Your first session with Susan

During our first session, I want to get to know you and what your life around eating looks like. I want to know the barriers that we may come across and game plan for how we can overcome them. I want to be a part of your support team. My goal is to give you enough information that you understand why changes in diet will help with diabetes or other disease states we are working with.
