About Tara
I am a registered dietitian and certified diabetes care and education specialist, which is a long title that means I am expert at managing diabetes. I started my own virtual private practice, The Diabetes Dietitian, LLC, so I could customize education and provide increased accountability to help patients reach their health and diabetes goals. I have worked with hundreds of diabetes patients to help them reduce their fasting blood sugars and A1C, lose weight and decrease medications with healthy lifestyle changes. My mission is to help people feel their best, without giving up the foods they love!
Approach to care
All foods fit, yes even carbohydrates! My approach is to help you learn how to eat your favorite foods while still meeting your health and diabetes goals. I meet patients where they are at and start with one small change at a time.
Your first session with Tara
We will review your assessment, go through what things have worked and didn't work for you in the past, discuss your current eating habits and what foods you like/dislike as well as review how you manage your diabetes currently. I will provide you a base meal plan to get you started and customize it after we discuss your food preferences.
