About Thomas

Hello there! My name is TJ and I’m a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN). Not only do I love learning more about healthy nutrition and beneficial foods, I also love to eat all kinds of delicious foods (hopefully we share that in common). I have experience working in both a hospital and out-patient clinical setting, helping patients navigate a wide-range of dietary challenges. I have experience working with patients one-on-one in areas such as diabetes, weight loss and weight management, cardiac health, and general healthy eating habits. No pressure and no judgement–I understand that food is very personal, and it that it can be stressful trying to decide what to eat. Whether you’re hoping to lose weight, control your blood sugar, or simply looking to add more nutritious foods into your life, I’m here to help.

Approach to care

I like to take an approach that does not adhere to a strict diet or ridged list of foods. I prefer to combine evidence-based science with your individual goals and needs. I don’t want to give you a diet that you cannot–or simply don’t want–to follow. My goal is to expand your love for food while inspiring healthier choices along the way that you can sustain and maintain. I’ll provide clinical education and guidance, but I’m not here to overwhelm or give you unrealistic changes to make. I want you to have the freedom and knowledge to make your own healthy choices so that you can enjoy eating without so much of the worry.

Your first session with Thomas

Our first session will be more conversation-based so that we can get to know one another rather than a lecture. We’ll begin with a general nutritional assessment so that I can hear about any relevant dietary and medical history. From there, I’d like to learn more about your relationship with food. We can discuss your favorite foods, past successes or difficult roadblocks, and what you hope to gain from our discussions. Finally, we’ll discuss your individualized goals, whether they be great and small. We’ll start off small, but if you have a big goal you’re hoping to achieve, feel free to let me know. I’m not looking to give you a diet or tell you something terrible like to never eat ice cream again–that would just be sad. Rather, I want to give you personalized care that will address your own goals, needs, and desires.
