About Tom

I work with adults who want a healthier, more sustainable relationship with food and their bodies—especially those who feel overwhelmed, burnt out, or stuck in cycles of dieting, guilt, or rigid food rules. Many of the people I support have a history of disordered eating or eating disorders, while others are simply tired of wellness culture and want a more grounded, realistic approach to nutrition. I’m a Texas-born, New York–based dietitian with experience across multiple levels of eating disorder care, from residential treatment to outpatient settings. While eating disorders are a core focus of my work, I also support clients seeking general nutrition guidance, managing medical or mental health conditions, or navigating food challenges related to neurodivergence. I’m especially passionate about working with men and LGBTQ+ adults—groups that are often overlooked or misunderstood in nutrition care. My goal is to provide support that is affirming, respectful, and truly individualized.

Approach to care

My approach to nutrition care is collaborative, evidence-based, and non-judgmental. I believe food is more than just fuel—it’s shaped by culture, identity, biology, lived experience, and social context. Because of this, nutrition isn’t one-size-fits-all, and it shouldn’t feel rigid or punitive. In our work together, we'll focus on rebuilding trust with your body, strengthening practical nutrition skills, dispelling common nutrition myths and unhelpful advice perpetuated by wellness culture, and reducing food-related stress. Sessions are structured but flexible, rooted in anti-diet, trauma-informed care, and tailored to your specific goals, needs, and current capacity. I utilize the principles of Intuitive Eating, the framework of Health at Every SizeĀ®, and findings from current evidence based research, delivered through a lens influenced by my own lived experiences, personality quirks, and core beliefs.

Your first session with Tom

Your first session is a chance for us to get to know each other. We’ll spend time talking through your history with food, what feels challenging right now, and what you’re hoping to change. Space will be provided for you to ask me questions There’s no pressure to have everything figured out—this is simply a starting point. Clients often describe our work as challenging but supportive, focused yet still fun. Progress may look like more flexibility with eating, fewer intrusive food thoughts, or feeling calmer and more confident in everyday food decisions. We’ll move at a pace that feels sustainable, with an emphasis on long-term well-being rather than quick fixes. Disclaimer: While weight loss may be a personal goal or desire, I do not provide care focused on intentional weight loss. Any changes in weight are viewed as a possible byproduct of improving one’s relationship with food—not the primary goal of our work.
