About Uyen
Welcome! My name is Uyen Nguyen, came from Vietnam, based in Tennessee. Due to my belief "Food-as-medicine" (FAM), I studied to become a Registered Dietitian. I try to avoid medications as much as possible for myself and for people I care about. I hope, in the near future, more people will choose nutrition over medication. I believe good foods, adequate hydration, along with essential electrolytes, vitamins and minerals will contribute to good metabolic health. A healthy metabolism will support natural processes of nourishment and detoxification for the body so that people can achieve holistic wellness through decreasing medication consumption, increasing healing and overall thriving.
Approach to care
My approach is person-centered care and holistic wellness, which involve tailoring diet and lifestyle to your unique needs, preferences, and circumstances of your life. I believe following a diet is based on the quality of the food you choose to eat and the timing when you eat, not the quantity, so that you’re not stressful because of counting calories. I focus on health-promoting foods, including whole foods, minimally processed foods, and selected processed foods.
Your first session with Uyen
During our first session, to get a clear picture of your holistic needs, we’ll spend some time to learn more about your background along with cultural values, health history, daily habits, and goals... in order to address the root causes of health issues rather than merely managing symptoms. I’ll ask questions about your nutrition such as food and beverage consumption, medications and supplements, lab results if available, lifestyle routines (sleep pattern, stress level, activity level...) and any challenges you’ve been facing. "You are what you eat" and only you can control that, so when working together, we’ll identify your priorities, make small and attainable changes to achieve your nutrition and wellness goals.
