About Valerie

Food and learning have shaped nearly everything I do. After completing a BA in Food Nutrition and Dietetics and an MS in Adult and Occupational Education, I built a career across hospital, outpatient, and private practice settings, now totaling 37 years as a Registered Dietitian. As an RDN I enjoy teaching practical skills, whether in the kitchen or through nutrition counseling. Outside work I cook, listen to music, play the piano, read, and care for my pets. I’m passionate about meeting people where they are and helping them build sustainable nutrition habits that last.

Approach to care

Nutrition care should fit your life, not the other way around. I use current research to guide practical, clear steps so we can make measurable progress together. Rather than focusing only on what to eat, it is important to understand the habits, patterns, and barriers shaping food choices. You’ll find a warm, nonjudgmental space where we address the whole person, including emotional and lifestyle factors. I’m direct about action steps and providing support as we build sustainable habits and sharing knowledge you need to make informed choices. Together, we will create sustainable strategies that support your health goals while also identifying foods that may be contributing to or worsening current medical conditions. My goal is to help you feel empowered, not restricted.

Your first session with Valerie

We’ll begin by reviewing your medical history and current routines, then take a thoughtful look at your relationship with food, including wins and struggles. This is a judgment-free, low-pressure conversation, so you don’t need to have answers beforehand. Together we’ll identify one or two realistic short-term goals and a practical first step you feel ready to try. I’ll support you with clear guidance, education, and accountability as we move forward.
