About Valerie

My mission and purpose in life are to help others improve their quality of life. Weight loss (and teaching the habits to maintain a healthy lifestyle), and obesity related conditions such as pre-diabetes, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol are my jam. I have personally been on a weight loss journey and have helped hundreds of clients achieve weight loss, reduce their blood sugars, pressure & cholesterol, and cultivate a healthier relationship with food. I am also a mom, wife, and professional bowler!

Approach to care

I take an empathetic and autonomy supportive approach. Most people have a great foundation of knowledge to build upon, so while I will provide some education, most sessions will consist of me asking questions to gather what you currently know and do, and then discuss which next, small, tangible steps you can take in the following week or two to gain some traction. Forward progress builds momentum, which builds confidence, self-efficacy, and habits that you can rely on to maintain a healthy lifestyle in the future.

Your first session with Valerie

In the first session, I will ask a lot of questions about your health history, immediate concerns you have, medications, food allergies, and most importantly your current habits (eating, sleep, hydration, stress management, and motion). We will also dive deeper into your main motivations around your health and what you're seeing me for. We will then devise a plan with simple and small steps for you to take during the next week or two and then follow up to evaluate what worked within your schedule and what needs to be adjusted!
