About Vivian

Welcome! My name is Vivian and I am a registered dietitian from Southern California. I grew up in a multicultural household in SoCal, so from young age I've had fun exploring a diversity of food and cultures (I'm a certified foodie!) My interest in food expanded to an interest in nutrition, as I learned more about macros and hydration as 3 sport high school varsity athlete. Fast-forward to graduate school, I decided to study Nutrition/Dietetics as an extension of my medical school training in the UCSD-PRIME Health Equity program. It was truly my goal to learn how to better incorporate "food as medicine" based interventions into my future work with clients (plus it gave me time to continue food exploration in a whole new landscape: New York City!) Fortunately for me, my dietetics training proved even more beneficial, as it better equipped me to manage a diagnosis of sudden-onset severe gluten intolerance that developed while in training.

Approach to care

My goal is to help clients who, like myself, are multifaceted individuals with their own unique relationship to food. Ultimately, I aim to support you as your unique food journey changes over time! I enjoy providing engaging sessions and really getting to know you. I also make space for you to ask as many questions as you need to achieve clarity on goals/next steps. I'm very passionate about nutrition education, and try to incorporate evidenced-based resources and kitchen skills you can use outside of session. But most importantly, I believe food and nutrition is meant to be fun rather than taxing and supportive rather than restrictive! I am all about finding ways to incorporate the foods and recipes you love in a low-stress way that helps you maintain a holistically healthy lifestyle!

Your first session with Vivian

During our first session, I will ask about your health goals, lifestyle and nutrition habits. This information truly helps me better understand your unique needs and goals for the season. At the end of the session, we will work on goal setting and draft a treatment plan that will typically include a total of 12 sessions occurring at weekly or biweekly pacing. Depending on your specific needs and goals our time working together may take longer—habit formation and lifestyle change occurs at a different pace for everyone. Ultimately, I am here to provide clarity, accountability and support for as long as you need to meet your unique health goals. I look forward to working with you soon!

Education

Masters of Education in Community Health Nutrition, Teachers College Columbia University // Bachelors of Science in Human Biology and Society, UCLA

Hobbies

I grew up playing several sports (mainly volleyball and basketball) so staying active is my therapy! I became obsessed with Aerial/Circus Arts in 2022 (Lyra is my favorite) but still indulge in the occasional ballet class, bike ride, or volleyball at the beach! At home, I love reading and challenging myself to create nutritionally-rich, gluten-free recipes to support my own gluten intolerance journey.
