About Zari
I have been practicing as a Registered Dietitian for over 25 years, providing medical nutrition therapy in clinical settings such as Diabetes clinics and dialysis units as well as in private practice with individuals with chronic health conditions for cardiac issues and chronic kidney disease. My varied experience allows me to draw on the skills and knowledge to manage chronic illness, as well as provide assistance to those looking to reach optimal health. I rely on scientific based evidence to diagnose and treat, while recognizing that there is no one diet that works for everyone. I work with people to help them understand their relationship with food and trained as a health supportive chef so that I could offer easy ways to incorporate nutrient dense but appropriate food and meal ideas to my clients.
Approach to care
My approach is to meet you where you are at. We will discuss your medical history and what your personal goals are for your visit. I counsel in a non judgemental manner and truly believe in taking small steps towards achieving realistic and sustainable goals. I will look for foods that you can add to your eating plan rather than giving you a list of foods that you can't eat. My counseling style is one that will place an emphasis on what you eat and on the lifestyle choices you make, as well as addressing the mind body connection in order to provide a plan for living your best life.
Your first session with Zari
Our first session will include collecting a thorough medical history from you, including relevant labwork if available, your typical eating style, food preferences, and your physical activity level. You will have the chance to discuss your health concerns and anything you think that might be a barrier to healthier eating. This will help me to create your personalized nutrition plan. My role as your Dietitian is to support you each step of the way and provide accountability along your health and wellness journey. We will review key points discussed and relevant nutrition education information that could be helpful. We will finish with goals for you to begin working on.
