About Zena
Hi, I'm Zena. With 20 years as a Registered Dietitian, I have had the privilege to work in community health, research and academia, corporate wellness, and clinical settings. I earned an MS in Human Nutrition from Washington State University in 2004 and a PhD in Prevention Science from the same university in 2025. I am a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor and Master Community Health Education Specialist. Outside of work, I love reading, spending time with family and grandchildren, gardening, tackling DIY home projects, and exploring libraries, museums, and walking trails. I bring warmth, curiosity, and practical nutrition guidance to our time together.
Approach to care
As a practitioner, I anchor care in evidence while staying deeply empathetic and warm. I translate current science into clear, doable steps you can actually implement, and I will help you set concrete actions that fit your life. I practice with a Health At Every Size mindset, focusing on behaviors, health, and well being rather than a number on the scale. Holistic care matters to me, so we consider sleep, stress, and mental health alongside nutrition. I aim to educate and empower you, so you gain confidence to make informed choices. Together we’ll pursue lasting change through sustainable routines.
Your first session with Zena
Our first appointment is all about you. Think of it as a conversation, not an evaluation, where we will uncover your goals, values, and what has or hasn't worked in the past. You don't need to arrive with a perfect plan or a full nutrition résumé; I will meet you where you are and guide the conversation with curiosity and care. We’ll discuss your relationship with food, daily routines, and any barriers you face, and we’ll shape one to two realistic next steps. The focus is on collaboration and your long-term health, not judgment.
